It's only been three days and my online digital media class is already overwhelming me with homework.

Part of it comes from wanting to do some awesome photos as the base images for the first four projects, and use my dolls as much as possible for the class. I'm probably spending too much time thinking about the project mechanics and it's time to scan doll shoes and start the actual projects.

Positive and negative space and that kind of stuff - It's a basic design class so it's exactly what I'm expecting to do.

It also has too much writing - answering questions about the chapters in complete sentences. I know what a pixel is, but I know some people taking the class (and it's a concurrent class with both digital and traditional course numbers) may have played on a computer but have never used it to make art before. These questions need to be in-place for the non-digital artist, and it also forces us to read the chapters.

But time is precious now, so I'm glad I didn't sign up for the beading workshops, too.

Workday meetup this weekend and since I've promised to help with some stuff I can't bow out and work on homework.

My three large Dollmore bags arrived last night, including one of their wheeled models. They gave me purple pupiless glass eyes I popped into Sake and now she looks related to Wasabi. Still think 14mm is a little large for her so she has more traditional 12mm eyes coming from SafrinDoll.

Also got my Denver Doll order - mostly tiny shoes. The DZ BB tennis shoes work good on Bambis but they were out of all but the red. I knew I should have purchased them when I saw they had them all in-stock a few weeks ago.

That reminds me! I need to put in a shoe order. Crazy dolliehs.

I had an art class once where MOST of the assignments that actually got graded were written! I did OK, since I can prattle on about prattling on, but a lot of people were WTF all over the place and man, I do not blame them.

Reading and Writing - Eiri

I've had an art class like that before - lots of writing about ugly-ass artwork by talentless people who were in the right place at the right time to pull it off.

wow.. your class... I don't think I've ever been in an art class that makes you read chapters and write responses to them. (or was I supposed to do that in imaging I? XD) I hope things pick up more and it becomes more fun~ ^_^

and that dollmore bag sound really neat!! So, it actually has wheels to help carry the weight? Thats cool~~ I would like to see that~

Nope, it's Genny's online 2D Design for new media class. I already told her today over lunch (repeatedly) that I had a mean teacher who piled too much homework on me the first week so my weekend would be really busy. After laughing and telling me to stop, she asked if she really DID give too much homework the first week and I said yes.

Hopefully next week she'll give us less so I can concentrate on afest.

Yeah, the bag is pretty cool. I got this one. http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=4740

I also got these two:

I wish I had purchased some more pillows for them. I'll get them later when I make another Dollmore order one of these days.

Hope so! I'm going bonkers trying to set up photos and scans for the first assignment of FOUR images. I have the rest of the week's work done, though, so if I can get all the photos and scans done today I will feel better about going to the workday meetup tomorrow and doing some work.

If you find you need a basic 2-D design class, definitely come back and take it at RLC! If Genny teaches it you can get credit for the academic number - ARTS 1311. It's a state-wide number so you can check your degree plan for it.

hands everyone

what kind of images are you making? (scanning so early on in the semester sound exciting! o.o)

and I took 2-D using illustrator with Stover. It was fun, I like illustrator now that I know how everything works. XD

Thoughtful - Eiri

I'm scanning doll shoes. Also taking photos of them. The four pieces have to have the same 'theme' used for the subject matter. I've finished two of the four pieces (positive/negative space and spacial relationships) and have an idea for the fourth one (one shape repeated over and over with three different colour layers). Still thinking about what to do for the third one, which is taking the subject usually considered the focal point and removing it so it's a blank area in the middle of an enviroment/setting.
